Interesting point. This is true of a lot of suffering as well.

One important question is: how does this bear on the moral status of those 'errors'? I would say we should be able to hold that they are errors/morally wrong, while still seeing the benefit that may come from them. This is possible on a non-consequentialist moral philosophy.
